An artist inspired by ‘the world around her’ is encouraging people to join her art classes in Topsham.

Louise Banks, 55, has been an artist for 30 years and she teaches three classes a week at Matthews Hall.

She said her joy as a teacher was bringing out her students’ ‘creative spark’.

Louise runs an untutored drop-in session on Wednesdays, from 9.30am until 11.30am, on Fridays, from 10am until noon, and on Wednesdays, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.

Louise said: “Art was just as normal as reading and maths in my house. My mum was also very passionate about painting. I draw inspiration from that and the people I teach.

“I believe very strongly that everyone has a creative spark and they just need help to bring it out.”
