Knit and Chat is a new social group soon to be up-and running in Withycombe organised by the RSVP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme.
They are a UK wide organisation that that fosters closer ties between young people and the over 50s.
Last month they appealed for people to join the group, and now have eight members, two volunteers and a technical helper.

Previously the group successfully appealed for over 50s to use their experience and volunteer to help children improve their reading skills in primary schools.
And the new group will meet weekly in Withycombe and will knit items including woolly hats and knitted dolls for good causes, including vulnerable children in hospitals, in Children's homes or who are receiving medical care.

Littleham's Howard Witts is the East Devon coordinator for RSVP, and said: "As a charity, we cannot afford to keep the knitters in wool, so we need generous people to donate wool and yarn.
"We need as much as we can get and any needles and patterns people want to donate."
Anyone who would like to donate can contact Howard Witts on: (01395) 273692.
He added that the group was ideal for people who liked knitting but didn't go out as much they would like and wanted to meet like minded people - and any over 50s interested in joining the group were welcome.
