Town mayor Steve Hall has repeated appeals for more drivers to join the Budleigh Salterton and District Voluntary Car Scheme.
The scheme, which is marking its 20th anniversary this year, drives people in the Budleigh area on a range of journeys, including to hospitals, dentists, doctors’ surgeries and opticians.
During the past year its drivers have covered more than 37,000 miles, however, the number of these volunteers is falling.
Councillor Hall said: “They only have 11 drivers, and I would like to ask if there are any other drivers out there who can help.”
The scheme is entirely voluntary, but drivers do get a mileage allowance. To find out more, contact John Jarvis on 01395 445664.
