Emily Benz, living in Switzerland, is writing a biography about Mary Gwendoline Croysdale - known as Gwen - from Stonesborough Court.
The author is keen to hear from anyone remembers Gwen to get in touch.
She said she hopes to hear stories about the time she spent living in the town.
The author said: "As a society girl in the 1920s, Gwen spent her last 20 years in Budleigh.
"I would love to hear any personal stories regarding her life - even if you just sold her groceries or serviced her car."

Author Mrs Benz began writing about Gwen's life after buying an archive of her papers on internet auction site Ebay three years ago.
The author knows Gwen died on March 12 1985 and her second husband was Sir Herbert James Gunn, court painter to Queen Elizabeth.
It is thought a priest named Father Ralph Gardner lived with her as her servant and companion.
And the author believes Gwen lived at 14 Stoneborough Court,Budleigh Salterton, and except for the odd trip to Madeira lived rather quietly.
Her second husband was Percy Croysdale.
