THURSDAY, AUGUST 14: TOPSHAM'S green fingers are itching for this weekend to get underway so they can head off to the allotment day on Saturday and to the annual flower and vegetable show on Sunday. Topsham Allotment and Garden Weekend has been organised as part of Town Fayre

TOPSHAM'S green fingers are itching for this weekend to get underway so they can head off to the allotment day on Saturday and to the annual flower and vegetable show on Sunday.Topsham Allotment and Garden Weekend has been organised as part of Town Fayre Week, which begins on Saturday. Visitors are invited to the allotment open day from 10.30am-3.30pm, at Butts Park, where they can see how the allotment holders use their plots.There will also be an opportunity to visit the trading hut and find out about upcoming talks and outings, and also to see the photography competition entries.Sunday's annual flower and vegetable show, in Matthews Hall, begins at 2pm and promises lots to see, with home-grown produce and flowers from the allotments available to buy.There are a host of classes to find the best locally grown flowers, vegetables or fruit. At 3.45pm the lucky winners of this year's bumper raffle will be drawn.
