Father Treasure, otherwise known in the adult world as Father Trevor of All Saints church, has become a very important person for the children of All Saints Pre-School.

Not only does he share his wonderful orchard with them where the children can collect apples, study the world of bugs and little beasties, see how buds turn into blooming flowers and blossom or just sit under the leaf laden branches of the apple tree on those extremely hot days and have a story told to them, but they are now reviving his vegetable plot with the knowledgeable guidance of Adrian and Allie.

Over the past year the children have planted and harvested lettuce, potatoes, peas, beans, strawberries and tomatoes using the Hungry Caterpillar which was created by Adrian and Allie and lives in the Secret Garden. Thanks to the kindness of Father Trevor, the children are now able to extend their experiences and are enthusiastically learning how to prepare the soil and take out the weeds to plant squash, raspberries, more potatoes, tomatoes, peas and a variety of herbs.

Helena Meineck, All Saints Pre-School’s manager said: “We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful relationship with the church, and Father Trevor in particular, and his support and kindness is really felt and appreciated. The children are learning so much about plants and nature, and sharing and working together.”
