that a public toilet in exmouth was
actually open!
It is not that long ago the Journal
carried stories of little old
ladies scuttling down back alleys
for relief because the toilets were
closed.
Perhaps the real reason for it
being open is its proximity to the
latest Lufftwaffe attack in the
Strand Gardens, allowing the
council members to use it as an air
raid shelter from the nearby town
hall! (Or is someone other than the
Luftwaffe responsible for the devastation
to our beautiful town?)
