A free vintage bus event is coming to Exmouth this month.
The event, known as Devon General Remembered, will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, and will feature a fleet of heritage buses from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
These classic vehicles will be offering free rides every 10 to 15 minutes from 10am to 4pm.
Each trip, lasting between 25 to 50 minutes, will start from Imperial Road, Exmouth, and will journey to various local destinations, including Budleigh Salterton, Littleham, and Woodbury.
If the weather allows, an open-top town tour will also be available.
The organisers are encouraging visitors to use public transport to get to the event.
Stagecoach bus services 57 and 157 will be running to Exmouth, and Exmouth train station is just a short walk from the event location.
Parking is available nearby on The Royal Avenue.
For those wishing to plan their bus trips in advance, a souvenir programme is available.
The programme includes the timetables for the free bus services and information about the buses being used.
It can be ordered in advance for £5 by contacting Sales Officer Ken Baker at kenbak63@gmail.com or by mail at DGS Sales, 14 Wrey Avenue, Barnstaple, Devon EX31 2EB.
The programme will also be available for purchase at the event.
The event also offers the opportunity to ride on a unique 1937/53 Saunders Roe-bodied AEC ‘Light Six’ Rebuild, ETT 995.
The event provides a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience travel as it was in the mid-20th century.
As well as offering a fun day out, the event also provides a fascinating glimpse into the history of public transport in the area.
