An Exmouth plumbing and heating business has undergone a change in ownership.

Westmancoat Plumbing and Heating Contractors, founded in 1962, has been acquired by Devon businessman Carl Purbrick.

The firm, which operates within a 20-mile radius of its Exmouth base, has been in the hands of the Sommers family since 1972.

The business ethos is built around offering apprenticeships and dedicated training to its engineers.

Its crew, composed exclusively of technicians and plumbers who began their careers at 16, have stayed with the company for decades.

Paul Sommers, current leader and son of the previous owner, handed over the reins of Westmancoat after deciding it was time to retire.

It follows a carefully crafted and comprehensive promotion and sale process, facilitated by Exeter's Beardsley Theobalds.

Mr Purbrick brings years of business experience and aptly transferable skills to maintain established standards.

To ensure a seamless transition, Paul Sommers will provide a comprehensive handover of the company.

This move exemplifies the well-managed sales typically overseen by Beardsley Theobalds, specialists in transferring industrial, commercial, and business service sectors.
