Exmouth and Beer Coastguard Rescue Team and the area officer were paged to a dog over the cliffs between Orcombe and Sandy Bay.
They were called out on Friday (April 5). Luckily, despite the dog's tumble, she was seen to be active on the beach below and did not have any injuries.
RNLI Exmouth was unable to assist due to the amount of swell and high winds.
A spokesman for Exmouth Coastguard Team said: "While rope access was a possibility, the bad weather conditions and risk led to the decision to access our friend on foot as soon as the tide allowed and she was returned to her waiting owners.
"Thanks to all teams involved and to the Lifeboat Crew for standing by on station in case the situation escalated."
