Exmouth's seafront floodgates, and the Mamhead Slipway floodgates, will be closed by East Devon District Council and volunteer residents, following advice from the Environment Agency.

Category A gates will be closed from 1:30pm on Monday, 8 April. Category B gates will be closed before 8am on Tuesday, 9 April.

A spokesman for EDDC said: "The reason is that the Environment Agency are predicting a 2.78m tide with a 500mm river flood surge and a 4m tidal surge. The river and tidal surge are due to occur at the same time as the high tide."
