A record 140 children took part in Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club’s annual Easter Egg hunt on Sunday, March 31, with guest appearances from two Easter Bunnies.

The egg hunt, which is now in its third year, raised more than £400 towards the purchase of new training nets.

Organisers are now planning to make the 2025 event even bigger and better, with up to 2,000 eggs to be hidden, after Sunday’s unprecedented turnout.

The Easter egg hunt rounded off a busy fundraising week at the club, which hosted a table-top sale, a quiz night and a sponsored 138-mile cycle ride by player Adam Jones. The run of Easter events has raised around £2,700 towards the £40k needed for the training nets.

The cricket club is now gearing up for the start of the season, with junior training due to start at 6pm on Friday April 19.
