As regular readers of the column know, I love to see youngsters catching fish.

This week, it is a pleasure to feature three young anglers who have caught personal best Ballan Wrasse.

Leo Algar, who's fish weighed in at 1lb, was not to be outdoe by his sister, Chloe Algar, who landed a fine fish of 2lbs 6oz.

Young Neavaeh Reeby, along with her father, went to Elphinstone at Plymouth where she caught her first ever Wrasse weighing 3lbs 11oz.

On the subject of youngsters, March's Fish of the Month prize goes to Jack Travers for his boat caught Spurdog of 15lbs.

A prize pack from Sidewinder Lures is on its way to him.

Entries are now being taken for April's competition, which is once again sponsored by Newbarn Angling Centre.

Boats are struggling to get out with the current weather, but when they do both Torquay’s Silver Halo and Brixham’s Spot On are finding medium sized pollack on the wrecks along with a few bass and cod.

An Exmouth SAC record was also broken this week by Tim Clotworthy with a bull huss of 13lbs 6oz, whilst another huss of 10lbs 5oz was landed by Lee Knight in daylight from a South Hams beach.

Newbarn Angling Centre is now attracting a good number of anglers again after all the work undertaken by its new owners and bailiff.

Wayne Hockley landed a common carp of 16lbs 2oz on a Mulberry Fizz pop-up, while James Barron landed three in his session including a couple of chunky mirror carp.

Fishery regular, Bob Wooster also had three fish out on a short day session recently.

The tackle shop is now stocking maggots amongst its various Carp baits.

Newton Abbot FA’s waters at Rackerhayes have found the water levels at an all time high with all the rain that we have been getting, but this has not deterred anglers in the slightest with young Ethan Gardner fishing an overnight session on island pond and landing carp up to 26lbs.

Also on island pond, Martin Gillman fished an early tench session and landed a good net full with fish weighing up to 5lbs 12oz, great fun on light float gear.

The last round of the Bradley Saturday League was won by Mark Cousins with 15lbs 10oz, with Jamie Pearce only 4oz behind with 15lbs 6oz and Sam Powell third with 11lbs1oz.

Sam Powell took the overall win.
