South West Water will be holding a 'community roadshow' in Budleigh Salterton next Tuesday (April 2).

The event will take place from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Venture Hall, Moor Lane, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6QE.

A market-stall will be setup, people will be able to talk about environmental improvements, increasing drinking water resources and tackling network blockages.

This is the sixth event in a series of community roadshows, which have so far seen South West Water visit Sidmouth, Torquay, Lynmouth, Falmouth, Christow and Exmouth. Making the Budleigh Salterton event on Tuesday next week (2 April) its seventh.

The protest in Exmouth on February 20 was met by protests by the environmental campaign group ESCAPE and members of the public. Exmouth: Hundreds protest against sewage pollution

South West Water says "£2 million of investment in Budleigh Salterton is planned to help further protect the beautiful local environment from the potential impact of the sewerage network if it becomes overwhelmed. This investment will further contribute towards maintaining Budleigh’s ‘excellent’ bathing water quality classification, as assessed by the Environment Agency.

"The company is also exploring opportunities in the area for separating surface water from the sewerage system by 2025, helping reduce the volume of water in the network and help reduce the need for storm overflows to operate."

Laura Flowerdew, chief customer and digital officer at South West Water, said: “We care about what our customers think and feel about our investment plans and overall performance. It’s why we are creating these events; they are opportunities for locals and customers alike to come and talk to us face-to-face, voice their individual concerns and have their questions answered.

"The team and I look forward to this next instalment of the roadshow and getting to meet the Budleigh Salterton community who want to learn more about the work we do.”
