The Association of Inner Wheel Clubs Great Britain and International, will be celebrating 100 years in May, with a gala celebration to be held in Manchester where the first Club was formed in 1924.

Exmouth Inner Wheel have reached their 94th year of working in Exmouth and District community, donating money raised at fetes, craft shows, filling shops with pre-loved clothes long before charity shops were born, and much more.

The group regularly donate to local charities including Centre Stage, Sea-scouts, Air Ambulance, Devon Freewheelers, Talking newspapers, Westbank Young Carers, Hospiscare, to name but a few, alongside National Charities: Alzheimers, Cancer, BHF and more. Also International charities including Smile, Water Aid, and Medicin Sans Frontier.

Without support from the local community, they couldn’t exist. but, they need more members. They are now a small group and still do lots to help our local area. With more members, more could be achieved

The group work in the community, providing support for refuge centres for abused women, hostels for the dispossessed, child centres and drop-in centres, school breakfasts and much more all over the country.

The clubs meet regularly and have a varied programme through which friendships are built and maintained. Their social events are as important as the service aspect, and we visit other clubs and join in their activities also.

To celebrate 100 years of the group nationally and internationally, women from Inner Wheel clubs the world over will be attending a gala celebration in Manchester where the first Club was formed in 1924.

The International part of the organisation was introduced in 1967 and have clubs in 104 countries with 108,000 members worldwide; over 9000 of those being in Great Britain & Ireland.
