The 1st Clyst Heath Rainbows visited RNLI Exmouth to receive their RNLI Water Safety Passport.

Not only did they receive certificates to mark the occasion, but also celebrated completing the Wellies for a Week challenge.

On the achievement, Rainbows leader, Beth McGill said: "This term our Rainbows have been working hard on their RNLI badge.

"We’ve learned what charity is, what the RNLI do and how to stay safe around (or in) the water."

As part of their fundraising efforts, the group were keen on supporting RNLI volunteer, Dave Hancock, in his London Marathon bid slated for April 21.

Ms McGill added: "Because of the iconic RNLI crew welly boots, we challenged our group to wear their Wellies for a Week for anything and everything they did."

Exmouth Journal: The challenge saw the group raise over £1000 for the RNLI

The challenge saw the group raise over £1000 for the RNLI.

The Rainbows' RNLI Water Safety Passports were presented by Dave Hancock himself on March 21, who also led a tour of the Exmouth RNLI lifeboat station.

Appreciative of the Rainbows' support, Mr Hancock said: "Thank you to the Rainbows for making such a generous donation to the RNLI through my London Marathon fundraising page."

The act of kindness further bolsters the RNLI's mission to saving lives at sea through a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.

The RNLI, independent of the coastguard and government, relies entirely on voluntary donations and legacies for funding its life-saving services across more than 238 lifeboat stations and over 240 lifeguard units.

To date, the organization has saved over 142,200 lives.
