Representatives from Down Syndrome International (DSI), a charity focused on spreading and increasing inclusivity and opportunity for people with Down Syndrome, met with the East Devon MP Simon Jupp to discuss various issues affecting the Down Syndrome community on local, national, and international levels.

The meeting at Mr Jupp's Exmouth office came ahead of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21.

Fundraising Officer for DSI, Russell Watkins highlighted the importance of community involvement in supporting individuals with Down Syndrome.

He also emphasised the necessity for more awareness and understanding to break down barriers and create a more inclusive society.

Executive Director of DSI, Andrew Boys, discussed the impact of various issues on people with Down Syndrome, and gave Simon Jupp insight on the organisation's global initiatives.

Simon Jupp MP acknowledged the importance of a collaborative approach to answer the challenges that the Down Syndrome community faces.

Russell and Andrew proceeded to present Simon Jupp with a pair of their #LotsOfSocks, which is a campaign that encourages people to wear colourful and mismatched socks to celebrate unique qualities and abilities of individuals with Down Syndrome.
