Residents of The Firs Care Home at 33 West Hill, Budleigh Salterton came together to honour Durban, on his 103rd birthday.

This wasn't just any birthday celebration; it was a tribute to a life well-lived, a journey through history with a man who has given so much to his country.

Durban, an ex-serviceman was greeted with a surprise as special guests from The Royal British Legion and the RAF joined visited Durban on this significant milestone.

A spokesman for Firs said: "The afternoon was a beautiful blend of great conversation, laughter, and shared memories. A toast to Durban, the birthday boy, was the highlight, symbolising our collective admiration and respect for his incredible journey through life. It was a moment that brought everyone closer, united in celebration and gratitude.

Durban said "I feel wonderfully overwhelmed by the time and effort the Firs made to make my day special, being able to spend time with service men once again, brought so many memories back."
