Exmouth NCI are getting ready for the busy tourist season, with a change to its opening hours from March 31.

In the UK, the clocks will change from UTC to BST on Sunday (March 31), Exmouth NCI will match their operating times to the available daylight hours, and the increased activity on the water and beaches.

A spokesman for the NCI said: "We will operate from 08:30 to 6.30pm - 10 hours of continuous watch keeping, (by three teams of two watchkeepers) 7 days a week. “Eyes along the coast” with added support from dedicated CCTV cameras.

NCI Exmouth has recently increased the coverage of their CCTV system. A fully commissioned camera at Budleigh Salterton along with Sideshore and the Exe Sailing Club enables on duty watch keeper to keep a ‘weather eye’ on the safety of kite/wing surfers, paddle boarders and water users in general, which have increased in popularity in the last few years.

The spokesman added: "All CCTV images can be viewed by the H M Coastguard should they need to gain a better understand of any incident.

"During the peak summer months, we further increase activity with coastal water safety advice for swimmers, paddleboarders and beach users."
