Exmouth Author Debra Wellington has joined forces with Exmouth in Bloom to launch a sunflower competition.

The competition is open to individuals, schools, youth groups, care homes and businesses to get involved with.

The event coincides with Debra's new children's book Grow Tall Sid which is being released at the end of March. It's the story of Sid the sunflower seed who is small and grey but wants to be tall and colourful like all the flowers in the garden. The book teaches children the plant life cycle in a fun and engaging way.

Debra told the Journal: "The aim is to turn Exmouth a golden yellow this summer, involving the whole community, individuals, schools, youth groups and businesses. Posters have been put up throughout the town with the Exmouth in Bloom email address on it for people to get more details on how to enter the competition.

"I'll be donating copies of my book and art prints to the Under 18's category."

Closing date for entries 20th September 2024 For details to enter please email: info@exmouthinbloom.org.uk
