A Royal Naval Wildcat helicopter was spotted flying around Exmouth Esplanade yesterday afternoon (March 14).
Volunteers of Exmouth RNLI were carrying out training with Royal Navy colleagues on winch transfers and “wet winching” with Exmouth RNLI's all weather lifeboat (ILB) D-805 George Bearman II and a Royal Navy Wildcat helicopter from RNAS Yeovilton.
The RNLI train on a regular basis to ensure they are always ready to respond when their pager goes off. If they need to ever carry out an extraction from a boat to a helicopter, the crews are well prepared for it.
This is a 24/7, 365 day a year commitment and requires our volunteers to train across a wide number of rescue scenarios.
Thanks to Ruth M Ford for sending the Journal these pictures of the helicopter via our send us your news portal on the website.
