Drivers will face disruption on the M5 in Devon tonight because of two closures.

The northbound carriageway will be shut between 8.30pm and 6am between junction 27 (Tiverton) and junction 28 (Cullompton).

National Highways says the closure is for carriageway reconstruction works. A diversion will be in place via the B3181 and A38.

These works will be carried out every night this week, so the carriageway will fully re-open on Saturday morning.

And drivers heading southbound will be affected by a closure between junction 28 (Cullompton) and junction 29 (Exeter) from 9pm until 6am tonight.

The carriageway will be shut to allow for inspections and surveys.

Cars will be diverted via the B3181, B3212 and A3015.

National Highways, a government company which plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains England's motorways and major A roads, posts a list of scheduled closures for England's motorways and major A roads on its website.
