The Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club has presented Franklins on The Strand with a certificate, to show their appreciation for letting them use their space to host meetings.

The club has been meeting here since 2021. Following on from their 'hugely' successful Christmas Breakfast last year the club have made a presentation to Jacquie, one of the co-owners, to show their thanks for their continued support.

Organiser Peter Round told the Journal: "When the club was founded Franklin’s was the only place in Exmouth that could offer a dedicated room. This was vital to allow all members to come together to express themselves freely.

Many civilians have heard the term “banter” and it's the common force’s preferred language of choice.

Peter added: "We like to express ourselves without any floral niceties but we always include a touch of humour. And jokes, anecdotes and puns are the order of the day.

"We don’t have any rules or flag waving. There are no ceremonies and no bull. You can talk about anything and everything.

"If you would like to join us at the breakfast club you will be made to feel welcome."

The criteria for entry to the group is simple, you must be a serving member of the armed forces or be a veteran. Franklin’s is on the Strand in Exmouth. They meet every Thursday at 9am.
