The Italian Store has imported a 7.5kg egg from Italy, which is being raffled off to raise money for Exmouth Friends in Need and Devon Air Ambulance.

Members of the public can buy a strip of five raffle tickets for £5 from The Italian Store on The Strand.

Owner Abas Mohedeen has one thousand tickets to give away, the draw is open from Thursday February 29 until Good Friday (April 7).

The winning ticket will be announced on Good Friday (7 April). All proceeds will go to Exmouth Friends in Need, a non-profit that helps prevent and alleviate poverty for local families.

The hefty egg has been imported from Italy, where The Italian Store import all the goods they sell in store.

Abas has been hosting the draw for two years now, last year's winner Martin Harvey donated it to a children's ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Abas told the Journal: "Owner of The Italian Store Abas Muhedeen said: "I think sometimes you have got to take the opportunity to give something back. Last year I just chose Exmouth Friends in Need, but this year I decided Devon Air Ambulance as well, after seeing the excellent work they do around the county.

A total of £605 was raised for Exmouth Friends in Need last year, which Abas hopes to beat this year.

The Italian Store sells a range of Italian goods, as well as dinners, red wine, biscuits and treats and smaller versions of the 7.5kg egg made of Italian milk chocolate.
