A flood alert has been issued for the Exe Estuary during the morning high tides on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week - February 12, 13 and 14.

The Government's Floodline service says Force 3 north westerly winds and offshore wave heights of over 1.10m are forecast to cause wave overtopping of sea defences and sea spray in exposed coastal locations. Tides are expected to be around 240mm higher than predicted, because of the weather conditions. High water in Exmouth is at 8.12am on Monday, 8.52am on Tuesday and 9.31am on Wednesday.

People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast.

The flood alert applies to all South Devon's estuaries, affecting low-lying areas and communities in the Erme, Avon, Kingsbridge, Dart, Teign and Exe Estuaries.
