The owners of The Bank and Number 9 have announced that they are to close today (January 30) for the last time.
Kate Beverley Dave McCarthy say this is due to reasons 'completely out of our control'.
They have thanked their loyal customers, staff hired over the years and all the bands and DJs that have played at the pub.
They said: "To say we are devastated after years of hard work is an understatement. We ask that any comments made on this are done so with kindness and sensitivity as our families and staff try to navigate through these difficult times.
"Thanks for the memories."
A planning application to demolish The Bank and Number 9 and Sam's Funhouse was submitted in 2023 and was approved by East Devon District Council.
Plans include demolishing the current site, building 34 apartments above, and a café, restaurant, and youth centre on the ground floor.
A previous planning application was submitted in 2020 to demolish the site. This was refused.
