Planning permission has been submitted to build four electric car charging points in the car park of Exmouth M&S Foodhall.

Applicant BP Pulse has lodged application 24/0063/FUL for permission to "install four electric vehicle charging bays with their own dedicated charging unit and associated lighting and electrical equipment at Marks And Spencer Foodhall Royal Avenue Exmouth EX8 1EN."

The work includes four electric parallel vehicle charging spaces (three bays and one accessible bay) with their own charger and a pillar enclosure and network cabinet opposite.

The application says: "The development of this site and others nationwide, is part of the move away from hydrocarbons into a world where net zero carbon transport is the norm. In March 2022 the Government released “Taking Charge – the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy” which is focused on the delivery of the maximum number of public charging points for EVs in the shortest possible time."

East Devon District Council officers will review the application before deciding to approve or refuse.
