Storm Isha has hit East Devon overnight and caused widespread disruption around the county this morning (Monday, Jan 22).

In preparation, the floodgates at Mamhead slipway in Exmouth were closed on Sunday afternoon. The road at Marine Drive leading to the RNLI station has also been closed this morning due to debris and sand on the road, which was blown up from the beach last night.

A spokesman for South Western Railway said: "Trains have also been cancelled between Honiton and Axminster to Exeter St David's and Yeovil Junction due a signalling failure at Crewkerne.

"Due to a signalling problem between Yeovil Junction and Axminster trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 12.00 22/01."

An amber weather warning for wind has been issued for Devon from 6pm on Sunday until 6am on Monday.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Storm Isha will bring a spell of very strong winds during Sunday evening and into Monday.

"Disruption to travel and utilities is likely."
