Five food hygiene ratings have been awarded to East Devon’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.
Restaurants, cafes and canteens
The following ratings have been given to three restaurants, cafes or canteens:
- • Rated 5: The Cafe At The Garden Shop at The Garden Shop, King Street, Colyton; rated on January 5
- • Rated 5: The West Country Higgler at Wheatfields, South Street, Axminster; rated on January 5
- • Rated 5: Churchill Contract Catering T/a Radish at 1 Roswell Court, 8 Douglas Avenue, Exmouth; rated on January 3
- The Shed Steakhouse & Grill, at The Shed, Harbour Road, Seaton was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on December 1.
- And Green Leaf Coffee Lounge, at Green Leaf Cafe, Marine Place, Seaton was given a score of one on December 1
It means that of East Devon's 288 similar establishments with ratings, 205 (71%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
Ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.
The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at their premises and online.
5 – hygiene standards are very good
4 – hygiene standards are good
3 – hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
2 – some improvement is necessary
1 – major improvement is necessary
0 – urgent improvement is required
