Clinton Farms have made the decision to close the 'hugely popular' milk vending machine at Otterton Mill, effective from December 3.

The company has blamed rising production cost and low sales for making it unsustainable to continue operating the machine.

A spokesman posted the news on Facebook at the end of November, saying: "This decision has been made after careful thought and is not one we take lightly.

"The combination of rising production costs and insufficient sales has rendered the vending machine's continued operation unsustainable.

"We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your support over the years and apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

The machine at Otterton Mill allowed visitors to turn up with a glass or pick one up at the site and fill it with fresh milk produced on the farm for a small fee.

The vending machine was installed in September 2019, offering “tasty organic milk fresh from our happy cows”, taking card payments only.
