Ottery Valley Funerals has rallied together local businesses to raise more than £600 of donations for Exmouth friends in need. 

The team at the funeral directors went out yesterday, (December 9) to collect a huge amount of Christmas treats for children being supported by Exmouth Friends In Need Each child will be delivered a bundle full of goodies as well as a couple of stocking fillers. 

Their haul not only includes the generosity of local businesses, Otter Valley Funerals were also able to purchase £200 of vouchers to be distributed as Christmas gifts to teenagers also being supported by EFIN. As well as some chocolate goodies for some of the adults too. 

Owner Simon Savage told the Journal: "We are so touched by the support of Exmouth and Budleigh’s business men and women, your generosity will genuinely make a difference to a lot of children’s Christmases this year and we thank you. 

"From our family to yours, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas."

Local businesses who donated include: Summer And Lola - Exmouth Hairdressers And Barbers, Action Potential Osteopathy Exmouth, MH Carpentry, Bone Orchard Tattoos, Bicton Inn, BK Appliance Ltd, Corbeau Noir Tattoos, Truly Scrumptious Chocolate Workshops, Richard Neave and lovely Bicton customer Steven.

Exmouth Friends in Need is a non profit organisation founded by Claire Austin in November 2018, It exists to help prevent and alleviate poverty for families in Exmouth and surrounding areas.
The team has grown considerably and now consists of many valued volunteers and helpers. They offer support to local families by providing food (predominantly fresh food but not exclusively), general essential household items, topping up Gas and Electricity, help towards paying the fuel bills and even assisting in furnishing new households with white goods and everything they need to keep peoples' heads above water thus encouraging sustainability for those in temporary poverty or suffering hardship.

Otter Valley Funerals on Brook Road is the only independent family-owned funeral directors in Budleigh, and owner Simon Savage is ready to be called out 24/7 around East Devon.
