Start next year's summer holidays with a fun-filled day of touch rugby in Exmouth.

On July 13, 2024, Sports Tours Ltd, in partnership with Exeter Chiefs Community and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), is set to organize the Touch Rugby Family Festival on Exmouth beach.

Featuring a touch rugby tournament, family activities, and attractions, this event is designed to cater to everyone.

Participants need to be 13 or older.

Teams, featuring six to 10 players of mixed ages, genders, and abilities, are welcome to join in the fun.

This event is not about competition but enjoying beach rugby in the spirit of inclusivity.

Experienced referees will oversee the games, and fully trained first aiders will be on-site to ensure everyone's safety.

Exmouth Journal:

George Littlechild, Event Manager at Sports Tours Ltd, spoke about the inclusive nature of the Touch Rugby Family Festival.

He said: "We are finally seeing a shift in sports where inclusivity is slowly but surely being embraced.

"Especially with a team sport like rugby, there should be an effort made towards opening the sport up to everyone in any way, all be it safe, that we can."

Participation costs £100 per team, with a part of the proceeds going to RNLI to support their lifesaving work.

On the day, the RNLI will also provide educational activities and demonstrations, underlining the need for water safety.

This gives attendees the chance to learn about safer swimming and the role of the RNLI in water rescue missions.

The timing of the Touch Rugby Family Festival is also intentional.

Mr Littlechild said: "The event couldn’t come at a more perfect time!

"It’s great to be teaching families about the importance of water safety before the big Summer holiday rush."

Partnering with the Exeter Chiefs Community, a professional rugby team, introduces a higher level of organization and coaching expertise to the festival.

Mr Littlechild emphasized the value of such partners: "Having these kind of role models for kids to look up to is so so important.

"We couldn’t ask for a better team of people to get everyone passionate about Rugby!"

When not on the pitch, attendees can enjoy Exmouth Beach's stunning views of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the thrill of other activities such as swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking.
