A BUDLEIGH Salterton man who trespassed onto railway land has been hit with a court bill of more than £1,000.

Hasan Ahmed Choudhury, 29, of High Street, was found guilty of the charge in his absence during a hearing at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Thursday (November 9).

The case was reported by British Transport Police, who claimed Choudhury was spotted trespassing "in proximity of railway or on railway property".

The offence was committed at Axminster Railway Station on May 13 this year.

He was fined £660 and ordered to pay a £264 victim surcharge, along with a contribution of £85 towards Crown Prosecution Service costs.

The court ruled that Choudhury should pay his total court bill of £1,009 by Friday, December 1.
