The Exmouth National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) held a special general meeting and decided unanimously for Peter Oliver to succeed Ivor Jones to be the station manager.

Ivor handed over to Peter his new station manager's epaulettes and they wish him 'good wishes in his new role'.

Ivor will also take on a new role as NCI Sector Manager for Devon and Somerset stations.

A spokesman for Exmouth NCI said: "We wish Peter every success in his appointment as he pushes forward with a new outlook for the future of our National Charity which numbers some 60 stations around the English coast, manned by 3,000 volunteer watchkeepers.

"National Coastwatch is keen to welcome new watchkeepers, volunteers need not have maritime or uniform service experience as all training will be given."
