An Exmouth care home has forged links with a local riding school to enable residents to visit the horses.

A 90-year-old resident of Raleigh Manor, Mary Wallace, had spent a lot of time with horses during her life, and was longing to do so again.

Gill Pratt, general manager at the home, said: “We thought there must be some way we can make this happen for Mary. And luckily there is a fantastic riding school nearby so we got in touch. Chrissy from Budleigh Salterton Riding School was very accommodating during a very busy school holiday season so we really appreciate her help.”

Annie, Mary’s daughter, went with her on the visit, and said: "She absolutely loved being around such glorious and majestic animals. A big thanks to Raleigh Manor and the Budleigh Salterton Riding School for making it happen.”

Raleigh Manor is now planning further visits to the stables with other residents who would like to visit the horses.
