Residents parking will be enforced in the colonies area of Exmouth from August 14.

A letter has been sent out to residents in the area, laying out how much the scheme would cost and the different types of permits available to buy from Devon County Council, a paper copy, digital copy, visitor permit and business permits are all on on offer ranging from £35 to £65.

Devon County Council have laid out the road markings and signs warning people of the scheme and residents have been buying the permits, all ready for the scheme to go live on Monday, August 14.

Devon County Council approved the scheme in December 2022, and said they had ‘overwhelming support’ from Exmouth residents in response to the public consultation held in July.

The plans have been recommended for approval and residents will be told ‘in due course.’ The plans will be implemented and then reviewed at the next East Devon Highways Committee meeting next December.

Residents parking was approved for the colonies area – with more than half of the households being in favour while those in Witthycombe Road rejected the proposals. However, it is recommended that ‘no waiting’ proposals are implemented.

St Andrew’s Road was approved – up to three business permits will be available.

Albion Hill will also get residents parking, as will Carter Avenue. However, in Southern Road, it was recommended that residents' parking should not be implemented but ‘no waiting’ and limited waiting should be introduced in Southern Road and the junction with Carter Avenue.

The meeting concluded that a residents’ parking scheme is introduced in the Colonies area, the St Andrews Road area and part of the Albion Hill area and that No Waiting at Any Time is introduced in the Withycombe Road area and Southern Road.
