Exmouth Youth Theatre latest production is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock: The Musical playing at Exmouth Pavillion from June 20 June-24.

Founded in 2018 and established as an independent charity in 2020, Exmouth Youth Theatre serves as a platform for young people to express themselves, gain confidence, and build lifelong friendships within a supportive environment.  By attending Exmouth Youth Theatre’s productions, residents of Exmouth and the surrounding areas can witness first hand the talent, energy and dedication of these young performers, and help them to flourish in their artistic journeys.

Aaliyah, 17, explains what a difference the company has made to her, as she prepares for her second production: “Being in Exmouth Youth Theatre has really boosted my confidence not just as an actress but as a person. I have loved rehearsing for School of Rock - it’s so full of energy and fun to perform but also really moving at times.  It would be amazing to have the support of the people of Exmouth and I think they would really enjoy the show, it’s an absolute must-watch."

School of Rock is a high energy production based on the 2003 film of the same name starring Jack Black – with new music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a script written by Downton Abbey writer, Julian Fellowes.

The group is thrilled to have a great technical team behind them, whose work on Exmouth Youth Theatre’s production of We Will Rock You resulted in them having the honour of being nominated for a NODA Award for Technical Achievement earlier this year.

Production Manager, John Jenkins, who works with several theatre groups across the region and has been part of the team supporting Exmouth Youth Theatre since 2021 said:  “I have never experienced such a dedicated group, and they just keep getting better and better.  As we approach School of Rock I cannot praise everyone enough for their commitment. I’m looking forward so much to being involved and working with such a lovely theatre group again”.

One of the youngest members of the cast is Edie, aged 9.  Here she shares her thoughts about School of Rock and describes what she feels audiences will love about the show:

“I’m really enjoying being part of School of Rock.  I know the show will be amazing because the music’s energetic and there are lots of funny bits.  The audience will love it because there’s lots of singing and dancing and bits where they can clap their hands and tap their toes, or maybe have a great laugh and a great night out!”

This dedicated theatre group is committed to bringing the magic of theatre to life for audiences of all ages, and their upcoming production of School of Rock promises to be another vibrant and unforgettable experience.  The show runs from Tuesday 20th June to Saturday 24th June at Exmouth Pavilion.
