Ten local gardens will be open to the public on Sunday, June 25 from 10am until 4pm to raise money for Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare.

They include some traditional and mature gardens, others with contemporary designs, and gardens with beautiful views of the sea or the countryside.

Some of the garden hosts will be offering refreshments: teas, coffees, cakes, or even sparkling wine and Pimms. There will also be plants, jigsaws, and ceramics and paintings from local artists available for a donation to the local charity.

At the Seachange Community Garden visitors will be able to look around the allotments and learn more about volunteer opportunities and plans to engage local clubs.

At the Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club guests will see immaculate croquet lawns, thriving vegetable allotments and an almost birds-eye view of Budleigh Salterton and the sea. Visitors will be able to try their hands at croquet, provided they wear flat-soled shoes on the playing lawns.

Martin Briggs, Chairman of Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare said: “We know from previous events that our Open Garden community days are extremely popular and so we are all really looking forward to seeing our local community come out again to support us – the day will go ahead, come rain or shine!

“All proceeds of the day will support our vital work of funding patients of Budleigh Medical Centre and Woodbury Surgery to receive professional and compassionate end-of-life care. So whether it’s to see the gardens, have a cup of tea and a piece of cake, find a plant for your own garden, look at artwork and ceramics, raise a toast of Pimms or find a jigsaw to challenge you – come along, all your donations will be greatly appreciated.”

Tickets are available for purchase on the day, priced at £10 per adult or £15 for two, and grant access to all 10 gardens. Child entry is free. This event is generously sponsored by Urban Earth.
