An Exmouth care home will be closing permanently.

Cranford Care Home, at 15 Cranford Avenue, has blamed a rise in energy and food prices for the closure.

It says it has explored every other avenue but has been left with no other option but to close the home soon.

The home is liaising with different agencies as well as "supporting our residents to find alternative care and accommodation".

An official closing date for the care home is set to be announced.

A spokesman for The Cranford said: "Our priority here at The Cranford has always been to ensure our residents have the excellent care and facilities that they deserve.

"However, in common with many other care providers, we are facing a perfect storm of challenges including the huge rise in energy and food costs and the staffing crisis in adult social care.

"Following a staff consultation and having considered all other possible avenues, we have very sadly come to the conclusion that we have no alternative other than to close permanently."
