Exmouth has been named the best place to live in England for 2023 according to Muddy Stilettos.

The women's lifestyle website creates a 'best places to live' list each year for England and breaks it down regionally before declaring a national winner.

Exmouth was voted as the best place to live in Devon last week, and it also accumulated the most votes for the national section.

The full lists of all the counties in England can be seen on the Muddy Stilettos website here.

Hero Brown, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Muddy Stilettos said: “When people move out of London they are searching for more than just a house, they want to find a new lifestyle that works for them.

"This exclusive reader vote will give them a fresh perspective to make their search easier. It’s hard to be confident on whether a location is the right place for you, but we’ve built our reputation on having first-hand knowledge on the in-the-know places to go and things to do outside London.

"This Reader vote gives a truly independent view on the towns and villages with the most popular postcodes, schools, restaurants and amenities."

What did Muddy Stilettos say about Exmouth?

In describing Exmouth Muddy Stilettos wrote: "What’s not to love about a coastal town nestled where the Exe Estuary meets the sea, with two miles of golden sand, a 200-berth marina and great road and rail connections to Devon’s capital city?

"Exmouth has much for outdoorsy types with its long, easy-to-access beachfront, Jurassic Coast clifftop walks and the Exe Estuary Trail, but it’s the town’s increasingly swanky hospitality that’s putting it on the map."

In terms of places to eat, Muddy Stilettos gave high praise to establishments such as Spoken on the Strand for its "Mediterranean tapas vibes" and Mitch Tonks’ Rockfish at Pier Head for its "ethical fish and fabulous sea views".

Meanwhile, its shopping options were also commended such as Shop Dead Gorgeous for its "quirky curation of homeware and gifts".
