The former St John Ambulance Hall in Exmouth is on the market as a 'residential development' opportunity.

The site is advertised on the Savills website as a £350,000 freehold property. It is hoped the site will be sold and developed into apartments.

A recently completed residential development of 18 apartments over four floors has been completed just to the east of the property.

Bastins Hall, on Elm Grove Road, was formerly used as a training hall for St John Ambulance and is a detached single, two-storey building.

The main Bastin Hall, comprising a training hall with WC and kitchen, and is situated alongside an additional two-storey building with a double garage with a three bedroom residential flat above.

The immediate surrounding area of the property is characterised by a mix of commercial and residential premises.

The successful bidder would need to apply for planning permission to demolish the building and re-develop it into flats or residential buildings much like what has been down the road.

In 2018, East Devon District Council (EDDC) approved a planning application to demolish the former Q Club nightclub on Elm Grove Road and build 18 apartments over four storeys, this scheme has now been completed.

EDDC officers had asked for 25 per cent of the development to be affordable homes, but applicants refused due to a ‘lack of interest’ by a registered provider.

The site is available on the Savills Estate agents website, where you ca arrange a viewing with the agent responsible for this site, Harry Ronson.
