Local residents are invited to help create a new woodland by joining tree planting sessions at the site next month.

Yonder Oak Wood near Lympstone is a 54-hectare piece of land that was acquired last year by the Woodland Trust. They plan to plant 13,000 trees over two weekends in February to turn it into a wildlife haven.

The planting will take place on February 4, 5, 18 and 19, and booking is essential via the Woodland Trust website. Anyone needing transport from Exmouth can book a seat on a minibus when they register to take part. There is no parking for cars at the site.

Each day will have a morning session from 10am until noon and an afternoon session from 1pm until 3.30pm. Anyone can come along to help, staying for as long as they want to.

There is no charge for taking part in the tree planting, but donations to the Woodland Trust will be welcome. Anyone who brings a Thermos or mug can buy a hot drink for a small cash donation.
