A new not-for-profit art organisation has opened a new gallery in Exmouth.

Sea Dog Art is run by Anna Fitzgerald and Ellie and officially opened with a launch party on Friday, (October 21). More than 400 people attended including Exmouth mayor Steve Gazzard and town crier Roger Bourgein.

The pair have lots planned in the coming months, as well as creating new art pieces, they are responsible for the new art mural on Exmouth seafront and the Exmouth art group exhibition currently being held at Ocean.

Anna is also working with EDDC to create new art exhibitions around the town, including more art themed events at next year’s Exmouth Festival.

Sea Dog Art builds community through art projects. One project is currently taking place on the Exmouth seafront where the shelters are being repainted to cover the graffiti and scrawls. There are also planning after-school clubs in ceramics and art which will soon be underway when schools’ terms begin again at the new studio.

Exmouth-based artist Anna FitzGerald said: The launch of our studio on Friday was a great success. Other things we have in the pipeline include a dog fancy dress on Sunday. 10-1 pm for the public to vote the prize is an original painting of their dog worth £150.”

"Exmouth and East Devon councils have been very supportive and where they can they have offered funding, they are supporting the seafront project at the moment, but their budgets can only stretch so far. This is where Sea Dog can curate the art of talented local artists on the walls of local businesses.

"Local artists are able to get their work seen and bought."
