A popular bookshop and bakery in Exmouth have announced they will be closing at the end of September.

The Book Rest Bakery will close on Saturday, (September 24) with the owners moving onto ‘new adventures.’ However, the bookshop will continue trading until October.

Best Books has started a closing down sale - with 25 per cent off all books at present - and will be closing its doors towards the end of October (date to be confirmed).

The business have been a feature in The Parade for 19 years, firstly as Best Books and then for 12 and a half years as the book Rest.

The owners posted a statement on Facebook and regular visitors flocked to the businesses Facebook page to express their love for the shop.

In a statement on Facebook, the owners said: “It is with great sadness that it is time to announce that The Book Rest Bakery and Best Books is closing.

“We would like to start by saying that the last 12 and a half years have created some of the most wonderful memories for us, serving locals and tourists alike. We have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people and have shared lots of laughter with the people of Exmouth. It truly has been unforgettable.

“For 19 years, Best Books, followed by The Book Rest, has flourished and during these difficult times has continued to do so with your loyal support.

“Our biggest regret is that we have been unable to pass the business on and therefore we have had to make the decision to close for us to begin new ventures.

“We apologize for the short notice, but the bakery will continue to trade until next Saturday (24/09).

“Lastly, we would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for your custom and support through the last two decades. We will miss you all.”
