I was enjoying a stroll along Queen's Drive to Orcombe Point in the sunshine on a Sunday when, on the beach at the far end by the roundabout, I spied a most disgusting sight, namely that of a grossly overflowing container for dog waste, which was spilling out all over the sand. Not only was this visually distressing, the extent of the mess made it a health hazard, particularly to small children playing nearby on the beach.Later that evening, walking near my home, I came across a further overflowing container for dog waste, this time at the junction of Littleham Road and Salterton Road. Another offensive sight, another health hazard.Street cleaning is the responsibility of EDDC. Now here's a question. If you had over 80,000 to spend and you were a council, would you choose to spend it on keeping the streets clean and healthy, or on mounting court cases to save your own job and stay in power? And here's another question. Has anyone ever seen such a thing in Sidmouth?Exmouth needs a voice, but with a subservient and powerless Tory-dominated town council, and an apparently feckless Tory-dominated district council, all it appears we can do is moo loudly like the cash cow we are and put up with the muck. I have mixed my animal similes here - perhaps we should all just be barking mad!Mike Hinds,The Brambles,Cranford Avenue, Exmouth.
