Despite the continual stories of financial doom and gloom, I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the extremely generous people of Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton for their continued support for Cancer Research UK. Over the last few weeks we have had two days collecting at Tesco, in the Salterton Road, and a soup, bread and apple pie Frugal Lunch held in the Public Hall, Budleigh. Together, the two events raised just over 1,000. A tremendous result and one that could not have been achieved without the help of the Journal and the generous support of our community. The ingredients for the soups were provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity South Farm farm shop. Hawkins Coffee donated the coffee and many kind people baked apple pies for us. They are too numerous to mention individually but I would like to thank them all for their help and support. Our next event is the annual Big Breakfast which, for the last eight years, has been the opening event for Budleigh Salterton's Gala Week. We look forward to seeing our regulars and to welcoming those who have yet to discover the excellence of the cuisine. A BIG 'thank you' to all our generous supporters. Jolyon Hunt,Chairman, CRUK Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth.
