Yesterday, I went to walk my dog on the Imperial Grounds, as I do three times a day, to find council workers putting up signs to stop kites with buggies, on a board, or powered. This has been done, once again, with no consultation.

Surely, a town like Exmouth wants to attract the sort of young, dynamic individuals who practise this sport.

We do not want to be another Sidmouth or Budleigh. We have a world champion in the sport of kite surfing who will be practising skills on dry land and, by watching some of the younger guys and girls you can see they will have every chance of getting to that position with the right sort of practise. There are already groups of children from the community college attending training sessions, but the council's decision will stop much of this.

Alternatively, perhaps, there is yet another hidden agenda where there is a wish to stop all activity on the Imperial Ground to allow for its sale and the building of yet more monstrosities.

We need young professional people to remain in Exmouth. If they do not, who will support us in the future. Where will the axe fall next, I wonder? Look out, rugby club, perhaps you would prefer to play at Woodbury!

Surely, we cannot afford to let all our green public playgrounds go. First, The Maer, where grass is being eroded (could it not be the dumping of sand?) Now the Imperial Grounds. I am amazed Exmouth Town Council, when being headed up by a young mayor, has allowed this to happen.
