CAMPAIGNERS are appealing to the public to join them at a crucial debate tomorrow which could determine Rolle College's future as a post 16 college - and they have even organised a coach.

More than 2,500 signatures have been collected over just three Saturday mornings in the Magnolia Centre, after County bosses in September reversed pledge to invest in the campus for educational use.

The reversal decision was called in by the Council's scrutiny committee, which then met and faced a cross party delegation of councillors, governors and residents.

But the committee postponed any decision because two councillors against the purchase, leader John Hart and portfolio holder for education Christine Channon were at the Tory conference - the committee reconvenes tomorrow.

However the community groups, members of the town council, the public and governors who are argued their case at the first debate will be barred from speaking.

So campaigners want as many people as possible to attend to send a clear message about the strength of local feeling.

Roy Pryke, chairman of Exmouth Community Association said: "We hope that in the next few days the County Council will demonstrate at the public meetings at County Hall that it knows what it is doing and that it has the interests of Exmouth at heart.

"If it does not we shall have to work together as a community for the future of the town - and particularly its young people."

Town clerk John Wokersien said: "...the feelings of dissatisfaction within the town continue to swell and grow.

"Concern is also felt that the administration is using procedure to avoid having to face the true concerns which are strongly felt within Exmouth.

"The lack of public information explaining the decision and how it was reached and lack of policy for the future of education for over 16 year olds in the area makes the decision even more difficult to understand."

The coach to County Hall will cost 2 and leave from the Strand at 9am outside Exmouth Indoor Market.

Coach tickets can be purchased from B Natural. The trip is only one due to the uncertainty of when the meeting will close.
