THE level of crime in Topsham and Countess Wear has increased.
Devon and Cornwall police figures, calculated quarterly, revealed there were 44 crimes in August - a jump from 27 for June and July respectively.
Robbery, vehicle-related crimes and violent offences all increased in numbers while the level of burglaries were judged as 'average' compared with the rest of the police force.
A number of incidents in Topsham took place after August's town carnival including three assaults.
PCSO Percy Giles said the number had risen compared with the previous two years.
As a result, he is seeking a meeting with members of the Topsham Town Fayre and Carnival committee to address such incidents to prevent a reoccurrence.
Despite the number of crimes at the event, Percy said it was a wonderful occasion and one in which he enjoyed working at.
