Two fire crews from Topsham were on Wednesday evening called to Lloyds TSB bank, in Topsham High Street, after reports of a smell of burning.
When the crews arrived at the four-storey bank they found a fire in a light fitting in a ground floor office.
The fire was out on arrival.
The crews used a thermal imaging camera to check if the fire had spread within the building.
